Glass Fibre Cable is the most expensive and most efficient cable type. It suffers very little distance-related energy loss (1 EU every 40 blocks) and tolerates voltages up to High Voltage (512 EU/t). Out of the two ways of crafting the cable, the recipe using Silver Ingots is preferable; Silver isn't used as extensively or in as many recipes as Redstone Dust and, more importantly, the Silver recipe uses Diamonds more efficiently (producing six cable per diamond instead of four). Glass Fibre Cables can be painted by right-clicking them with a colored painter, colored and not-colored cables connect, but e.g. blue cables and red cables don't connect.
